For three Sundays, embattled President/Founder of Believers LoveWorld also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has tactically avoided the UK, South Africa and Lagos, Nigeria regions of the mega ministry.
And reaching millions of his members worldwide, through a live global church services beamed via satellite, the stylish man of God is said to be deliberately buying enough time to allow the tide of scandal rocking his home and ministry to calm down.
Pastor Chris’, who has since reportedly rounded off the Healing School programme held in Canada, Christ Embassy’s regional headquarters surprisingly ministered to his congregation from there for the September Communion Service.
And basking in the euphoria of a global preacher, he had an excuse to avoid a face- to- face meeting with the faithful who needed (and still desire) a convincing explanation of what’s happening to the 23- year old marriage of their mentor and spiritual leader.
Pastor Chris almost escaped this Interrogation, if not for the effrontery of one of his members who took him on this at the Sunday, September 7, 2014, Global Communion Service.
While acknowledging that his house is on fire, the smooth-talking man of God couldn’t however, convincingly plead not guilty in the heels of Anita’s stronger allegations of suspicious relationship with some of his female church members and neglect of his marital responsibilities.
In his first formal reaction to Anita’s bid to divorce him, Pastor Chris said he didn’t do any of those things (allegation of adultery). He, however, confirmed his estranged wife has dragged him to court, urging the church to pray for her.
Oyakhilome who claimed to be truly called by God, explained he can’t work against God’s divine purpose. And as if confirming the statements previously credited to him on Pastor Anita’s conduct, he argued that the wife of a man of God is not necessarily a woman of God.
When again Christ Embassy members hoped to see Pastor Chris live either in the United States, UK, South Africa or the Lagos headquarters on the third Sunday after the news of his cracked marriage hit town (September 14, 2014), he plotted another escape route, inaugurating a Quarterly Global Service. The maiden edition powered by Loveword Media was broadcast live to Christ Embassy members. The message entitled, Children of the Word was silent on Anita and Oyakhilome’s marital woes.
Those familiar with Pastor Chris’s modus operandi informed ENCOMIUM Weekly he may not be seen by his congregation till the church’s annual Pastors and Partners Conference (PPC) coming up in the first week of November.
