No marriage plans now, says Baba Suwe

Popular comic actor, Alhaji Nurudeen Babatunde Omidina, better addressed as Baba Suwe, has quashed the tale of wedding plan with a new lover, who is said to be an actress. He added that it’s nothing but a figment of peoples’ imagination. He described the tale further as not only baseless but spurious.

Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Thursday, September 4, 2014, exactly five years after the death of his wife, Monsurat Omidina, a.k.a Omoladun Kenkelewu, the Oluaye of comedy, as Omidina is also known, expressed total dismay about the tale, labeling those sponsoring it as jobless rumour mongers.
“Don’t mind anybody telling you that. That’s just their imagination. There is nothing like marriage plan for now. It’s just a useless rumour.”
Probed further on what could have informed the rumour, the ace comedian explained, “I don’t even know. But I think it’s because I posed with a girl in one of our location pictures, which makes it look as if we are getting married soon. It’s a make believe thing, it’s not real at all. People should just stop imagining what is not existing.
“What also fueled the speculation was that a Yoruba magazine published it without any confirmation. A lot of people had called me on it, but I have told them the truth that I am not getting married any soon. No wedding plan in sight at all. The most important thing right now is how I will move on, career wise. I have been on the same spot all this while because of the drug mess. Who is even the girl they are talking about? Where does she live? Please, don’t be part of those peddling the rumour.”
Also asked to explain the latest concerning his legal battle with National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), now that his counsel, Barr. Bamidele Aturu is no more, he reacted, “My brother, I am still mourning Aturu. And to be honest, what is important to me about the case again is not the money in question but NDLEA should just write an apology, informing the public that I was wrongly accused.
“Honestly, that alone is enough for me, I will be very happy. I mean it, and I have said it before, and I will continue saying it again and again. The money is a non issue but my name which I have built over the years.”
