Olamide clears air on controversial video, Story for the gods

-speaks on his love for KWAM 1

Few weeks ago, there was hullabaloo in the entertainment circle over Badoo, Olamide’s new single, Story For The God. The visual generated mixed-reactions from pundits. The 3:24 minute video, shot and directed by Unlimited L.A was seen by many to have strong lewd language; obvious sexual scenes that promoted homosexuality, among others.

The talented rapper told ENCOMIUM Weekly how he came about the song. He also spoke on his love for KWAM 1.

olamideEarly 2014, you said you weren’t going to release any album this year. Why are you releasing this album now?

My marketers demanded for it. They said there is high demand for it, following the success of my previous singles, Story For The Gods and Awon Goons Mi.

What’s the fate of YBNL album now?

Pending. Right now, Lil Kesh is just growing, as well as Victor. They really need more time to develop their own game. I want fans to develop love for them, not because of Olamide. Besides, the demand for it is not high, and if we release it, it won’t sell.

You’re part of K1 Unusual concert. What should your fans expect from you?

My fans should expect the very best. I am going to put in my very best. I am a big fan of K1. I am glad to be part it, and I am going to give my best just to make my mama proud, because she’s a big fan of K1. Anything to make my mom happy, I will do it.

People listen to your songs, what song do you listen to?

I listen to different genres of music. I listen to jazz once in a while, hip hop, apala and fuji. In as much it’s a good music, I am satisfied.

Story for the Gods. How did you come about it?

I just wanted to do lamba. Something people will dance to and have fun, because if lamba no pay, money no go dey to chop.
