Why did Evans change his plea to ‘not guilty’?

The richest and most notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (better known as Evans) changed his guilty plea today (Thursday, October 19) to not guilty.
The suspect and two of the co-accused changed their plea as Lagos State brought an amended charge.
And many are wondering why, in spite of the evidence against him, he changed his plea.
Encomium.ng brings you some of the reasons he could have triggered the change:

1. He now has a lawyer who must have told him he has nothing to lose anymore. That pleading guilty will only fast-track his trial but not reduce the punishment.

2. There’s a lot of money stashed somewhere that is being protected. And possible investments that are out of the long arms of the law.
